New! Any club that started the new Kiwanis year with 20 members or less...more
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time.
The Carolinas District of Kiwanis International covers both North Carolina and South Carolina with 175 plus clubs and close to 6,000 members.
Our Defining Statement: To assist the clubs to serve one child and one community at a time in the Carolinas District.
Our Core Purpose and Values: To improve lives through fellowship in service.
Our Vision: To be the leading civic organization providing service to others.
Our Mission: To offer service and leadership opportunities to those who desire to serve the needs of children, youth and adults in our communities.
As the new year unfolds, many of my fellow Carolina Kiwanians are experiencing a rare blast of winter snow. The news media has captured many wonderful pictures of children playing in the snow - from Wilmington to Charleston to Fayetteville, all the way to the Smokey Mountains. Our children’s delight in this unfamiliar, unanticipated snowfall is reflected in expressions of pure joy as they sled, throw snowballs and make snow angels. Reading USA Today this morning I even found a picture of a boy sledding at the Kiwanis Park in St. Joseph, Michigan.
What sets Kiwanis apart from other service organizations is our emphasis on children: improving the lives of children, one child and one community at a time. 2018 stretches before us as a year filled with possibilities and opportunities. What impact can our local clubs, our Carolinas District and Kiwanis International have on the lives of children locally and globally in 2018?
Will 2018 be the year that the Carolinas District completes its Legacy Fund Drive to sustain the Kiwanis Cottage at Lake Waccamaw? Is this the year that Kiwanis International meets its commitment to UNICEF and Maternal Neonatal Tetanus is Eliminated? What new service projects will our local clubs embark on? Will we grow our membership adding to existing clubs as well as building new clubs? Will we expand service leadership opportunities for our youth and for adults with disabilities during 2018?
The answers begin with you, with me and with our clubs. Carolinas Kids need Kiwanis! I invite you to join with me and your fellow Kiwanians as we begin our journey into 2018 resolving to make a difference in the lives of children and our communities. To quote Mother Teresa, “I can do things you cannot. You can do things I cannot. Together we can do great things!” Best wishes for a happy and service filled new year!

What if you could save a baby's life?
With The Eliminate Project, you can. Maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) kills one baby every nine minutes. But three doses of a 60-cent vaccine can protect mothers and babies. Kiwanis and UNICEF have joined forces to bring this vaccine to 38 countries, eliminating MNT from the face of the Earth. What can you do right now? Learn about MNT and advocate for the cause. Participate in our fundraisers. Over the next few years, the work we do will change the world. Find out more at www.TheEliminateProject.org.
