INTRODUCTION

The fourth edition of The History of the Carolinas District of Kiwanis International has now been published.

Previous issues were published in 1939, 1974 and 1988. This 1999 edition builds on, and includes, the excellent content of the earlier works. This complete edition including photographs is archived at the District Office on a CD-ROM for future reference.
It is essential to preserve our history at regular, frequent intervals or we will discover that some of the information is irretrievably lost. This editor was contacted by two Carolinas District Kiwanis Clubs for local information which was not available to her. Please appoint Club and Division Historians to record and maintain local history.

Many individuals were most helpful in preparing this edition. Particular thanks are extended to Bill Wirth, Leah Moretz, Skip Queen, Tom Dimmock, Robin Lynch and Governor David Burnette. This total manuscript was typed to disc by Laura Proffitt thus making it possible to achieve the book on CD-ROM. The editor also wishes to recognize the printer, Keen Impressions, for their professionalism and guidance.
